- A patented Benchmade exclusive, AXIS has already been switching heads and winning enthusiasts previously since its introduction. A 100-percent ambidextrous design, AXIS gets its features from a small, hardened steel bar which rides forth and back in a slot machined into both metal liners. The club extends to both sides of the blade, spanning the liners and positioned within the rear of the blade. It activates a ramped, tang portion of the knife blade when it really is exposed. Two omega style springs, one on each liner, supply the locking club it’s inertia to engage the knife tang, and as a result the tang is wedged solidly between a large stop pin together with AXIS bar itself.
